DAY 1 IN IRELAND. JUNE 12th
Today has been
a really long day. We had the flight early in the morning and it was a bit
late, due to this fact we’re even more tired than what we were supposed to be.
Once we arrived to Dublin, we got in the bus and stopped for have a quick
lunch. We had more than another hour in the bus until we finally arrived to
Moate. When we were at the parking in Moate we just looked for our host families
and left to our house (for a week). Mar and me are very luckily and we have a
lovely family. In addition, in the same neighbourhood as ours there are 6 more
friends from the school and we already met all together in one house. Our
family agrees with the fact that we hang out with them so we’ll see them during
the afternoons very often.
During the
afternoon, apart from hanging out with our friends for a couple of ours, we
also got the chance to enjoy the backyard with the family and we played games
all together. It was pretty good and they are all incredibly kind and funny.
Later, we just took a shower and worked for a while. This is all for today.
DAY 2: DUBLIN
Today we went to Dublin. Well, first of all Mar and me had breakfast with the family and it was hilarious… it was 8 o’clock in the morning and the children were so awake.
In Dublin, we visited a ship called the Jeanie Johnston which has a lot of stories behind it. It was an interesting visit and I believe that the guide did a really good job. The guide had a good communication skills. Right after we finished, we walked around for an hour and went to see the outside of the European google building.
We returned to the meeting point and had a very quick lunch. I was mad because I was in charge of answering the sculptures questions and we didn’t go.
Later, we visited the EPIC museum. It was a modern museum and really original but hard to understand. I enjoyed the decoration but I didn’t find out at all what the museum was about, even though I tried to.
We had 2 more hours until we finally arrived to Moate. We had dinner with families and we had to meet all again on the meeting point. We went to kind of a cinema to watch a movie. From my point of view, the movie wasn’t of our interest, it didn’t caught our attention. I and the other students were disappointed because we weren’t expecting this type of film, and the teacher were disappointed as well because we weren’t interested.
DAY 3:
BUNRATTY CASTLE & CLIFFS OF MOHER
I’ve
believed that the Cliffs of Moher are one of the most beautiful things of the
world, so that’s why I was truly excited about today.
We woke up
early and got to the meeting point early as well. As usual, we had a couple of
hours by bus. When we arrived to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park I really liked
it. It had lots of details which made this place spectacular. The castle was
nice, but what I enjoyed the most was the entrance, it had lots of old security.
I guess that this security was useful some years ago.
We made a
little guide visit in the castle. Even though the guide talked a bit fast, it
was interesting everything that he said and the visit was fine. Later, we had
an hour for have lunch and explore the Folk Park. With my friends, we spent the
time taking funny pictures, which are better to do not show...!
When the
visit ended, we went to the Cliffs of Moher, and as I said before I was so
excited! The cliffs were exactly how I imagined. A breath taking view which I’m
sure that I’m not going to forget anytime soon.
After that, we just enjoyed the afternoon with
the crazy host family.
I wasn’t
expecting a very good day, but it definitely was!
We had our
morning meeting point a little bit later so we could sleep more time, and I was
grateful about it. In the morning we
just had time to work on the project. We went to a college in Moate, but it
didn’t have Wi-Fi so it wasn’t as good as we expected.
We had some
time to have lunch and right after that we went to a big field were we had the
chance to play Gaelic Sports. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. When we started we weren’t
enthusiastic at all, but we quickly changed our mind. I was with a group of 12
girls more or less, and the coach was Patricia, she was really nice. We gave
our best and played during hours, even under the rain. All of us ended
amazingly tired and some of us got hurt.
When we finished,
even though we were all sweaty and tired, we had another visit to do. We went
to Clonmacnoise. It was beautiful but I was extremely tired and I didn’t enjoy
it…
We went
back with the families, took a fast shower and went back all together to attend
to an Irish concert. The people who played instruments, danced and sing were so
talented. Everyone enjoyed a lot and at the end we had the chance to try to
dance, but it was too difficult to be learnt in 2 minutes…!
DAY 5: DUBLIN
The morning
routine was the same one as the days before: have breakfast, get ready, go to
the meeting point and spend 2 hours on the bus! (Even though it sounds boring,
being 2 hours in a bus with friends is faultless!! We play games, we talk, sing…)
In Dublin
we divided in 3 big groups and entered to the GPO museum (General Post Office).
I was in the first group. The visit was really interesting, but our guide didn’t
explain what I was looking for so I ended up the visit a bit stressed…
After the visit,
when the other groups were in the GPO, we had 30 minutes of free time. And
after this 30 minutes we also had time to have lunch and free time again so I
bought a few things for me and my family.
When the
free time was over, we met at the stairs (the meeting point), and started a
1h30min tour. The guide was hard to understand but if I was focused I could understand
what he explained and it was interesting. He knew lots of things and seemed
very intelligent.
We went
back to Moate and had the whole afternoon with the family… it was really fun,
well… with this amazing family is impossible to be bored! In addition, Marta
Jané and Marina Alda came over to hour house and we played all together. Later,
we went to the house of Mar Recio, Maria Travesset and Paula Grandas, and
stayed there with more friends for a couple of hours. We live really close so
we hang out very often with them… and we enjoy it a lot!
DAY 6:
GALWAY
Today was a
relaxing day because we needed to have energy for the disco!!
We had our
morning routine and arrived to Galway around 11am. We tried to go to the beach
but it was too windy.
All we had
to do in Galway was a challenge. My group wasn’t lucky at all. Everyone we
asked was a tourist or had to go to mass. We ended up later than the other
groups because of what I just said, but we had enough time. When we finished
the challenge, we had 2 hours of free time. I went to the mall with my friends
and I found a shoes that I really liked and I bought them… so I was extremely
happy about it!
We went
back to Moate with our host families and got ready for the disco. Before we went to the night club we spent some time with the kids of the family and went to visit the pussycats of their grandparents. They were extremely little and cute and we took great pictures.
I think that
no one was expecting that the disco would be good, but it definitely was! Although de
DJ didn’t have the list of songs that we wanted, we managed to give him some of
them and we danced our songs during hours. At the end, it was very emotional
because we all knew that it was one of the last moments together… Thau is going
to end very soon. The songs Fix You and Forever Young made some people cry.
We woke up
early and packed everything. When we got to the meeting point we said goodbye
to our host family which was the best we could have ever asked for. It was hard
to say goodbye knowing that it would be the last time that we saw them. Now we
can call them friends.
We left
with our baggage in the couch to Dublin. When we arrived, we all went to the
stair meeting point, in the Trinity College. There, the teachers explained us
the challenge and we had 1hour and a half to do it. It was not easy but we gave
our best and almost finished.
When we finished
we had 2 free time hours. My friends and I went to McDonalds and we were
extremely tired so we decided to not go shopping and to stay there chatting.
Later, we
went to the airport and we were a bit stressed because everything was going
slowly. But finally we did it, we took the plane and finished this incredible
trip to Ireland.
The views
from the plane were gorgeous, when we landed we could see Barcelona with an amazing
sunset as background.
FAMILY LIFE:
Mother: Rachelle, age unknown. She doesn't have a job.
Father: William, age unknown as well. He works in the Irish army.
First kid: Callum, age 11. He enjoys playing with the tablet and the Xbox.
Second kid: Caitlin, age 9: She likes sports (soccer, basketball and gaelic football), and she also likes to play with her brothers and sister.
Third kid: Jamie, age 8. He loves playing gaelic football and playing fortnite.
Fourth kid: Ellie, age 7. She is the youngest and the funniest of the family. She also plays gaelic football and basketball.
IRELAND FOR ME
During my stay in Moate I've enjoyed lots of things. But the think that I enjoyed the most is being with the host family. They were very funny and we never get bored, we were always playing games and going to do visitis to people. On the down side, I think that the visits weren't of our interest, I would have prefered to go to Guinness for example, but appart from this, everything else was faultless. I would definetely repeat the moment when my friends and I played gaelic sports under the rain... we all felt really good! I'm happy to say that I didn't miss anything from Sant Cugat. Bearing in mind that I've been 4 months in Canada, I was used to be with a host family and all these things.
I believe that the trip was good. Although we are aware of what happened last year, I also think that we didn't have autonomy at all. We al would have prefered to do more things on our own,and as I already mentioned before, some visits were not the best choice, from my point of view.
